Promote critical attitudes necessary to correct thinking, such as: intellectual curiosity, objectivity, willingness to be methodical and systematic, persistence, insist on the quest and systematic verification, willingness to consider, without ideas pre-designed, a great variety, diversity and complexity of facts, willingness to suspend accepting any conclusion until they have been considered all the relevant data. Mastery of concepts and knowledge, ability to identify, describe, classify and explain the various social manifestations of man between the game and the sport, and to apply this knowledge and capabilities that consolidate the attitudes expressed towards the problems studied.
The discipline in question is aimed at the study of the development of social sports phenomenon in the context of Western society. It is organized according to five points: 1) The development of a curricular discipline; 2) the game and the party; 3) Modern sport; 4) The development of sport in Portugal; 5) Sport and society.
Classes conducted with the support of a series of fact sheets on themes and issues of the DD, Professor, with comments leading to an understanding of the historical and social phenomenon and of selected themes of each fact sheet, presentation and debate between students and teacher guidance. Presentation of a selected set of films relating to sport and development in the present tense (DVD, CD), accompanied by commentary and guidance on the sport phenomenon and its social structure. Presentation of photographs of times and guidance as the fundamental relations between the media, the image and the sport. Enhancement of the development of critical and attitudes based on studies and not merely subjective or emotional aspects.
